This week I'm thinking about - giving birth to my words.
Unleashing our thoughts as words is powerful. The vibration of the spoken word
resonates in minds and hearts, having a positive or negative impact depending on your
intention or motivation.
I find it intriguing to think of what I say, my words, from the perspective of giving birth to
them. Or perhaps, it would be more accurate to say that I give birth to my thoughts in
the form of my words. There is a newness to these words in that they have not been
spoken before and are, in a sense, baby words. Once I give birth to them, I have loosed
them on society and into the universal pool of words, thoughts and ideas expressed as
words from many sources.
Just as most of us would not thrust a child onto the world stage before it has been
nurtured, schooled and trained, it occurs to me that we should at least give this much
attention to what we think, say and do. Perhaps nurture our thoughts before we give
them sound as words which can lead into our own actions and also reactions from those
who hear our words.
We have heard the old saying, "think before you act," but I suggest that we go further
and allow ourselves to explore our thoughts to determine the effect they will have as
spoken words, when born to our environment and in the hearing of those around us.
Your thoughts and words belong to you and to those who hear and accept them.
Determine to be clear about what you want to communicate to others. Your spoken
words identify and describe your attitudes, perspectives and beliefs about yourself and
others. They also leave a word-print in universal consciousness that cannot be retrieved,
once spoken.
